A few weeks ago, I was getting ready for work with the SONY channel playing in the background. Suddenly, I saw Hilary Duff on screen and wondered if it was her new movie. I used to like her a lot when I was younger, so of course I went online to check. That’s when I found out it was actually a TV series called Younger.
Naturally, I jumped right into it.
After just a few episodes, I was hooked. The series follows a 40-year-old woman named Liza who’s trying to get back into the publishing industry. The problem? No one wants to hire her at an entry-level position because of her age. So her best friend suggests she lie about it. She pretends to be younger and ends up landing a job as an assistant at a publishing firm.
One of the reasons I love Younger is because it’s set in the publishing world. Since I’m interested in a writing career, it’s fun to see how things work behind the scenes. I’m not sure how accurate it is compared to real life, but I still feel like I’m learning something from it.
The only downside? Each episode is only about 20 minutes long, and there are just 12 episodes per season. I need more!
The characters are far from boring. There’s a love triangle between Liza, Josh, and Charles. I’m definitely #TeamCharles. He’s smart, charming, and honestly such a great match for Liza. Josh is cute, but he feels a little too immature for her.

Younger reminds me of Ugly Betty with a touch of Sex and the City. If you haven’t watched it yet, check out #YoungerTV. You might enjoy it too. And if you know any similar series, please let me know. I’m always looking for something new to binge.
