I first heard about SEO a few years ago, and as a geek, I wanted to learn more. I even bought a Thai book about it, but after reading the first chapter, it just didn’t make sense to me, so I stopped. To be honest, I rarely read Thai books anyway. Almost all the books I pick up are in English. I’m still not sure if it was the book that wasn’t great or just me not getting it.
A few months ago, I joined a Facebook group called Bangkok Bloggers, created by Carl Heaton, who runs Web Courses Bangkok. While browsing their site, I found so many interesting courses I’d love to attend, like photography and graphic design. When Carl mentioned he had a few spots left for the SEO Essentials for Business course, I decided to take it.
The course had four classes (12 hours total), each lasting three hours. I still can’t decide which schedule was tougher, Wednesday evenings after a full workday, or Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. (and I am definitely not a morning person). haha. I also have to apologize to my classmates, because sometimes I was just not in the mood to socialize, especially in the mornings.
Our instructor, Gemma, was great. She clearly knew what she was doing and explained things well. My classmates were also really nice, lucky me! I learned a lot in this course and finally understood what SEO actually is. I had Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools accounts for about two years but never used them. Now I know how. Learning about link building was also super helpful, as well as how to get a website indexed on Google and Bing.
I think the class might feel challenging for people who know nothing about online marketing or who don’t manage their own websites. But there’s no need to worry, because the instructor always tried her best to make sure we understood. Luckily, I already had some basic knowledge, so it helped me catch on faster.
I’d definitely recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn more about SEO for business. I’m sure their other courses are just as good, and I’m already looking forward to going back and learning more.
Until next time…
