About 10 years ago, I started watching a TV series called Ugly Betty. It inspired me in so many ways. One of the biggest ones? The idea of working in the magazine industry. That show motivated me to start blogging and practice different skills.
I don’t really read many magazines. The only one I used to read regularly was Cosmopolitan Thailand. Unfortunately, it shut down. Now I read the US edition instead. And honestly, I’ve always wondered what it would be like to work at Cosmopolitan.
I started following people who work at Hearst Magazines on Twitter, and that’s when I heard about a reality series called So Cosmo. My heart started beating fast!
Now, let me be honest. I don’t know much about fashion and beauty. Sometimes I don’t get it at all. Maybe I need someone to educate me more. LOL. I also don’t earn enough to buy luxury brands, and I’m perfectly happy using things I can afford. What’s the point of going into debt just to wear something expensive? And honestly, I don’t think I have that “oh my gosh, she’s definitely wearing designer” look anyway. So why waste the money? HA HA.
But working at Hearst Magazines? That would be an incredible opportunity.

After watching the first episode of So Cosmo last night, I fell in love with the office environment. Yes, it looks intense. Yes, it looks stressful. But it also looks fun and challenging. I don’t like boring routine jobs. I’m not even sure if I could handle that level of pressure, but if I ever got the chance, I would absolutely try.
I truly believe that when I love what I’m doing, I give it everything. And when I give it everything, I succeed.
The Cosmo Reader Night looked amazing. And then… I saw my relationship coach, Matthew Hussey, on the show. OMG. I did not expect that. Joanna Coles is officially my career idol. And Leah Wyar looks fabulous.
When I tweeted about the first episode, Joanna liked my tweet. Then So Cosmo retweeted it. I was screaming internally. Total fangirl moment.
My favorite scene? Fire Island. Leah, Steven, and James discussing Leah’s clothes. That energy. That dynamic. So good.
The series premiered on February 8, 2017, on E!. If you love fashion, Cosmopolitan, or dream about working in publishing, you should definitely watch it. It’s fierce, glamorous, and inspiring.
It was so good, I watched the first episode twice.
Let me know what you think if you watch it!
