You’ve probably heard about the latest fantasy film that serves as a spin-off of the Harry Potter series. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was written by J. K. Rowling, and if you’ve read or watched Harry Potter, the title should sound very familiar.

I’m a huge Harry Potter fan. I’ve read all the books and watched all the movies more than twice. So of course I was excited to see Fantastic Beasts. I love the idea of returning to the Wizarding World that J. K. Rowling created.fantasticbeaststic

The movie officially premiered in Thailand today, November 17th, and I went to see it before heading to the office. Yes, I was that excited.

The magical creatures were beautifully created. The Bowtruckle, “Picket,” was my absolute favorite, along with the naughty Niffler. I was completely head over heels for the Harry Potter series back in the day, and somehow J. K. Rowling managed to cast that spell on me all over again. I couldn’t stop smiling whenever characters pulled out their wands and started casting spells.

Eddie Redmayne was fantastic as Newt Scamander. It’s impossible not to like this character. Ever since Les Misérables, I’ve had a soft spot for Eddie. Queenie Goldstein also reminded me a little of Luna Lovegood, which made me like her even more.

There was one part I didn’t enjoy, but I won’t spoil anything. You’ll have to watch the movie to understand. Let’s just say I wasn’t a fan of the actor who made a cameo appearance near the end.

I’m actually planning to watch it again with my boyfriend this weekend. I’ll pay more attention to the details and maybe add more thoughts later.

If I remember correctly, Fantastic Beasts takes place about 70 years before the events of Harry Potter. Albus Dumbledore, Gellert Grindelwald, and a few other familiar names were mentioned. I also heard that this is just the beginning of a larger story. Originally planned as a trilogy, it was later expanded to five films, which is exciting news for fans.

I’m even considering watching it in IMAX 3D because I’ve heard the visual details are stunning.

If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you definitely shouldn’t miss Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. And if you’ve already seen it, let me know what you think in the comments!
