Dating Nightmare Stories

Dating Nightmare Stories

It’s Halloween, so instead of something sweet and romantic, let’s talk about dating nightmares.

After two long posts in the past couple of weeks, I’ll keep this one shorter. I’m going to share two dating experiences from my twenties that still make me laugh today.

First story.

Twenty-something me agreed to meet a Scottish guy somewhere on Sukhumvit Road. I told him I was hungry, but he said he wasn’t. So we ended up at a bar.

I don’t drink alcohol, but I don’t mind hanging out in a bar. My stomach was empty, though, so drinking Coke probably wasn’t the smartest idea. I ordered a bottle of water. He ordered a beer.

And then… silence.

Every time I tried to start a conversation, I got one-word answers. Sometimes just one sentence. Then he would go quiet again. It was painfully awkward. After almost two hours of this, I finally told him I had to leave because my stomach was starting to hurt. I needed real food.

After that date, I refused to go out with Scottish guys for years. Sorry, Scotland. LOL.

Second story.

About six years ago, I met an American guy at a coffee shop before heading to the office. When I arrived, I saw him wearing an ugly Red Bull tank top, shorts, and flip-flops.

I wanted to run immediately.

He failed the first impression test in record time.

But I stayed. I ordered a hot chocolate and sat across from him.

This guy was extremely talkative. Unfortunately, he loved talking about himself. The worst part was how much he bragged about being rich. He kept mentioning his Louis Vuitton bag and his expensive watch. He even talked about how his ex-girlfriend and other Thai women supposedly tried to steal his designer items when they broke up.

That was the biggest red flag.

I am not impressed by brand names. The only luxury item I care about is Tiffany & Co., and even that is just for fun. I lasted about 30 minutes before telling him I had to go to work.

To be honest, I wasn’t good at dating when I was younger. I didn’t even feel comfortable eating in front of men. I’ve definitely gotten better with experience.

Those were two of my worst dating experiences. Well, there was also the time I paid for a guy’s meal at McDonald’s because he didn’t have much money but still wanted to see me. I was very naive.

Looking back, I can laugh about it now.

Do you have any dating horror stories? Sometimes the worst dates make the best stories later.
